Chief Development Officer

Reports To: Chief Executive Officer & President, Eurus Energy America Corporation

Position Description:

The CDO will lead greenfield and project origination efforts in multiple markets across the United States, Mexico, and South America and manage and drive all new business and investment priorities under the guidance of Company President and the Eurus Energy Holding (EEH) Board and Toyota Tsusho Corporation (TTC).

  • Lead expansion of development pipeline and initiation of projects for the following markets/opportunities of renewable energy generation including storage and Hydrogen.
    • Pacific Northwest
    • California
    • Baja California Sur, Mexico
    • Chile
  • Corporate PPA Deal with Group companies, potentially partnership with parent company
  • Drive development progress and results, ensure accountability holding self and others accountable to meet commitments and obtain monthly progress reports from VP of South America. Development, AVPs of US Development and Mexico and AVP of Engineering.
  • Work closely with other internal departments to materialize developed projects and maximize their value.
  • Create mid/long term development strategy considering emerging risks and business opportunities and if necessary, re-structure the existing development organization to achieve the development strategy.
  • Drive vision and purpose and demonstrate and instill Company values and code of conduct.
  • Take the responsibilities by working with Japanese secondees to obtain approvals from headquarters in Japan to move developed projects forward.
  • Once such projects are approved, take all responsibility for materialization process (schedule, budget control, contracts, etc.)
  • Once projects reach commercial operation, transfer projects to Operation and Asset Management departments.
  • When necessary, communicate with colleagues in overseas (Japan, Netherland, Australia, and Taiwan) to share know-how and relationships within Eurus group.
  • Maintain strong relationships with peers and leaders across the organization as a member of the executive team and push for continuity across groups to ensure efficient execution of business objectives.
  • Collaborate with the executive team to establish annual business objectives within the overarching corporate strategy and meet shared objectives. 
  • Provide leadership and voice to the company, mentorship and team building, and active participation for company initiatives and missions.
  • Maintain and enhance company health, culture, and overall quality of experience for staff
  • Identify opportunities and benefits across the company and departments.
  • Optimize work processes to get things done, with a focus on continuous improvement.

Requirements:

The Chief Development Officer shall meet the following requirements:

  • A bachelor’s degree, preferably in engineering or a technical field, is required.  In addition, an MBA and/or other advanced degree is strongly preferred
  • More than 15 years of renewable energy development origination, industry strategy, project development, and construction experience in solar and wind in the US and SA markets 
  • Experience working in a multi-national organization, preferably Japanese 
  • Experience conceptualizing and completing utility-scale projects, with at least 3 years of experience in battery storage development
  • Knowledge of wind, solar and storage market conditions and trade practices
  • Prior experience working as or with a long-term asset owner and operator in the energy space

Travel:

Generally, less than 20% annually.
